Aucklander Laura Foote has embarked on a handmade only mission.
Laura’s label ‘Elle Elvish’ is compiled of luxurious handmade knitted accessories, including popular beaded cuffs that combine knitting with wire and beadwork.
“I try to use as many New Zealand products as possible, especially New Zealand yarn.”
Laura says, “Handmade means exclusivity: each is one-of-a-kind. My hands are behind each item’s fabrication process, from conception to completion.”

Laura knits together common tastes from around the world. She studied Fashion and Textile Design in Milan, worked side by side with a designer in London, lived 6 months in Guangzhou, China, and this is all in the last two years! we wrote about Laura Foote earlier on Thread here.
“The style of Elle Elvish relates to people of many different cultures, we all want quality and to support self-expression.”
Handmade pays attention to the days of old when craftsmanship, creativity and quality were paramount. The accessories of Elle Elvish are refined pieces of art.

Laura wants to prove that ‘fashion’ is not superfluous. “Especially handmade, it celebrates humanity. Builds a higher appreciation for things as they are made with and involve years of learned skills, passion and commitment.”
Laura says, “When you give a handmade gift it’s more like writing a letter to someone. Sharing a story; whether about the maker, medium used, or origin.”
