With a kaleidoscope of colours, these are not something you want to hide away in the hall cupboard!

We gathered at Mollies Hotel today for the launch of Electrolux Ergorapido, in hues of olive, aqua, chocolate and of course fashionable black.

The cleaners are not designed to be hidden away at all. Rather, they can sit out on display and be turned on in a flash to clean the kitchen after meals with the kids, or be carried easily up the stairs, or clean the couch. I like the detachable hand unit that is perfect for vacuuming the car.

What’s new is the Ergo brush clean feature. Electrolux’s Alan Dalton showed me how it works. It has a blade that cuts off hair so you don’t have to pull it all out by hand. Love that.

I adore the purple shade, Cassis, but there’s a choice of Olive Green, Aqua Blue for a splash of vibrant colour, and Satin Black for the minimalist.

They retail for $249 at electronic stores such as Harvey Normans and Farmers. In Chocolate Brown (below) and Clear Blue, the Ergorapido Plus – a little more pricey at $379 – is a stronger machine (18 volt compared to 12 volt) which will run for half an hour.
