No one is going to be left out this Christmas festivities, not High Street and definitely not Auckland City Mission.
Wednesday 8th December saw the launch of one very special store on High Street – The High St. Lucky Christmas Shop. The High St. Lucky Christmas Shop is brought to you by the High St. Guild – a collective of High Street businesses including bars, restaurants and shops.
As I walked down the stairs heading into the store to attend the launch, I was greeted by the smell of pine trees and a maze of Christmas trees. The smoky atmosphere and twinkling lights made me feel I was walking through an enchanted forest; a world far away from the Auckland city life. It is located at the basement of 33 High Street, formerly the nightclub The Box. The place has been transformed so that you get an out-of-this-world experience while you shop and do your bit of charity work.
Amidst this forest you can purchase yourself or someone else a surprise present. Inside each beautifully wrapped present is a gift which has been kindly donated by one of the businesses located on High Street. You can choose wrapped gifts ranging from $20 to $100 for him and her – all are guaranteed to truly exceed expectations. All proceeds from the gifts purchased go to Auckland City Mission.
Chris Cherry from Workshop explains the concept of this store, “It’s a charitable Christmas gift with a great point of difference. Not only is a donation gifted directly to the Auckland City Mission on your behalf, but you also get a cool gift from High Street.”
Whether buying a gift for someone else or for yourself, you can’t help but feel happy about your purchase as you know you are assisting in making some else Christmas special. I know I was very excited about opening up my beautifully wrapped mysterious gift as I made my way out of the enchanted Christmas store.
