I bought a cedar hot tub and am loving it

It’s been a dream of mine for ages and finally it’s been realised. I bought a cedar hot tub and am loving it.

The New Zealand-made cedar hot tub I ordered for LAST lockdown, arrived before this one, and I’ve been basically doing Backyard Bali every day.

After some research and recommendations, I decided to go with Paradise Hot Tubs (support NZ made!) and I have not been disappointed.

I wanted a cedar hot tub rather than the plastic spas, as I love the Scandinavian hot tub – or traditional Japanese onsen – look.

It’s chlorine-free using the Silver Cove system, and the old water can be emptied onto the garden, as it’s free of harmful chemicals.

Compared to other cedar tubs, the black liner with insulation males it more cost efficient to heat as the polystyrene insulation retains heat.

I thought I’d share some pics of the hot tub and share how to use it, in case you are also thinking of getting one.

I bought my cedar hot tub from Paradise Hot Tubs. It was really easy to deal with the company and all the instructions came printed out and taped to each part so it was simple and clear to instal.
I bought their Model A, 1500mm electric hot tub, with a NZ made black polyethylene internal ‘shell’ which is leak free, insulated, hygienic and easy to clean. It has cedar seats, cedar rim pieces, and a cedar external wall, and a fitted cover.
I love that it has a traditional cedar look outside, with the benefits of a moulded black shell inside.
It has a control panel for the coloured lights and jets and setting the temperature and so on.
We built a paving stone base for it on a foundation of builder sand and made sure it was strong and level. You could buy curved steps but we just climb in from the deck.
This is the small size which easily fits a family of four. I’m quite happy in it alone though. (Peace and quiet!) I also like the handy shelf lip for holding drinks.
We put the Silver Cove in once a week and it’s been so easy to use.
Cheers!
