I’m loving: Fitbit Alta

I’m loving: Fitbit Alta with its slimline look and its detachable stylish straps to match your mood or your outfit. If you want a more fashion jewellery look – or want a slimmer discreet version of a fitness tracker – you should check out this latest from Fitbit. It comes with clip on, clip off straps in basic colours or luxe straps in blush pink leather (pictured), graphite leather and a stainless steel, as well as designer brands Tory Burch and Public School coming.

With this latest Fitbit, as well as aesthetics, the focus is on getting sedentary people up and moving. The motivating wristband sends you friendly reminders to achieve 250 steps each hour and these reminders to move would be helpful for those of us who settle and forget to get up and walk around the office.

The Alta still has the classic step tracking, calories burned, and active minutes, as well as auto sleep. A clever feature is SmartTrack, recognising select activities and recording them in its exercise section of your Fitbit app.

You can choose to have the display read horizontally or vertically; I quite like it running the length of the strap so you get a bigger display which is easy to read at a glance. It receives text and call alerts on the display too.

The battery life is better, with a battery life of up to 5 days. It doesn’t have the full complement of some Fitbits; the Alta doesn’t offer stair climbing stats, GPS, or an optical heart rate monitor.
