I am a dress person.

Try as I might to learn to love trousers and their poor cousin jeans, I keep coming back to all things skirty.

So it follows of course that I have an extensive collection of tights. No point having cold legs all year round and the days of wearing trousers under skirts in New Zealand have gone since around 1992.

For the past few seasons, the black opaque has reigned supreme. But black is more than a tad boring and looks positively funereal paired with a black dress and jacket to boot.

Thus I was rapt to discover Italian label SiSi is in New Zealand. SiSi is a luxury brand from Italy that even extends to lingerie as well as the usual suspects of Lycra tights, cotton tights and socks. They have the most amazing patterns and prints and are definite conversation starters.

I’ve been wearing Cupido, pictured above left, in the grey, black and white colourway, as well as Selene and a warm cotton multi-stripe that cheers me up on the coldest winter’s day.

SiSi is available in New Zealand at Smith & Caughey’s and Heavenly Soles in Auckland, Arthur Barnett in Dunedin and Ballantynes in Christchurch and retails at $45 for tights and $25 for socks.

So, leg it down to the store and banish those black opaques forever.
