Let's be blunt

Featuring the most radical technological leap since the introduction of the collapsible umbrella in the 1920s, Blunt Technology creates an umbrella of amazing stability and strength, while introducing a stylish, distinctive and more rounded silhouette.

No more collapsible, disposable umbrellas. In the greatest technological leap since the introduction of the folding umbrella in the 1920s, comes Blunt, an umbrella that is totally functional AND totally covetable.

With a rounded silhouette, it is fashionable enough for style-setting women, but competely fascinating to men due to its structure and strength. In fact, I’ve already lost mine to my husband who took off with it today "for research purposes."

Get the point- with the elimination of sharp corners you won’t be taking anyone’s eye out. The corners are blunt, geddit? It’s the best looking blunt object around.

We like that not having to continually buy more umbrella at the $2 Shop when yours gives up the brolly ghost on a rainy day means it’s a greener choice (actually it doesn’t come in green: just black, silver, blue and red.)

Blunt’s design means the canopy won’t tear at the tips or easily turn inside out.

Your blow wave may blow out but not your umbrella…

I almost get lifted away in this high wind, like Mary Poppins and her umbrella…

The design is very cool and contemporary with a nicely designed logo (it reminded me a bit of Montblanc’s star with lines added.)

The key to Blunt’s technology lies "in its unique “radial tensioning system”, a design innovation that generates unprecedented strength at the outer edge of the umbrella canopy, the often fatal weak point in traditionally-framed umbrellas."

TV One News featured them on Monday interviewing inventor Greig Brebner in his "Look forward to bad weather" tee-shirt.

Greig Brebner demonstrates the unique mechanism inside the Blunt warehouse. He’s not superstitious.

TV One news put a Blunt to the test in Wellington’s wind tunnel. The TV News umbrella was shredded, but the Blunt survived intact.

I like how they look from behind; like a poppy. Follow that umbrella…

Available in three varieties: Blunt (RRP $99), Blunt XL ($110), and Blunt Golf, Blunt umbrellas are available from select stores and through their online shop (www.bluntumbrellas.com).
