I have collated some tips for ironing your clothes beautifully that you may like to try out…

Use distilled (boiled then cooled) water in your iron rather than tap water so no nasty ‘gunk’ comes out on your clothes.

Some people even recommend putting tinfoil under your ironing board cover to double the heat.

Check the garment care label for iron heat settings so you don’t burn a hole through your favourite top.

Iron back-and-forwards, not in circles, which stretches out fabric fibres and thus shortens the lifespan of clothing.

If you find some fabrics get a sheen from the iron, press them from the inside-out.

Hang up your clothes straight after ironing.

Buy a quality iron that you won’t have to replace.

Below: I’ve shot the brand new Ultrasteam from Electrolux; an iron that has 60 steam holes to pressure steam your clothes leaving you with a wrinkle free finish faster. It automatically sets up the right amount of steam according to the temperature selected, allowing you to always get the best setting for each type of fabric.

Ultrasteam is $129.95 for blue (and also available in red and silver at a little extra) available at all leading appliance retailers, see www.electrolux.co.nz
