I love grey. I love bows. So when I had the chance to take the new Guess grey bow bag around town it was too good to miss. She had mocktails, placed bets, met designers and had tea on an ocean liner.

Inspired in part by seeing those tourists take their kiwi or teddybear around the world and photographing it in front of the Eiffel tower and Statue of Liberty, and in part by Girlfriend magazine’s fabulous reality section where diehard fans send in photos of themselves with the mag in different locations (!) I have made a photo essay of The Handbag’s Life.

Here’s the life of my handbag…

All aboard on the Queen Mary 2 for a nice cup of tea on their elegant green and white striped deckchairs. This is the life, handbag thought, as she ordered lemon for her Earl Grey.

Meeting her favourite designer, Trelise Cooper, whom handbag identifies with greatly (a little bit class, a little bit bling) on the Queen Mary 2 before her catwalk show onboard.

Champagne and canapes on the fore deck for the Trelise Cooper show. Never mind the sunshine when you’ve already got (faux) lizard skin.

"Elegant Casual" read the dress code sign at the Queen Mary dining room. Well. That said it all, really.

Enjoying a daiquiri mocktail (it’s under 18) through a long straw at Havana Heaven night.

Urban jungle: hanging out at the Xanthe White-designed Garden of Soul at Soul bar.

Placing a bet on the horses at Ellerslie for the Stella Artois Auckland Cup.

In good company: meeting some distant handbag cousins at the Gucci VIP Lounge at Ellerslie.
