We were tantalised with a taster of suspenders and suit jackets with ‘Boardroom’ written across the knickers of Trelise Cooper’s models at Fashion Week, and tonight we saw the Boardroom collection walk the catwalk.

At Skycity Eight, a members-only gambling bar inside Skycity we needed special lift access to reach, a red carpet in front of dramatic black curtains became a catwalk for the debut of Trelise’s latest label.

A far cry from the colour and feminity she is known for, as she herself admitted in her opening speech, this collection is in the shade that Trelise usually wears. Black.

It’s a saleable collection, pitched cleverly at an audience that has money to spend on business suits and separates that will keep working from the office to the cocktail party and beyond. If Gordon Gecko was a woman, this is what she’d wear.

Whilst not ‘fashion’ like her eponymously-titled women’s wear line, it has beautifully tailored jackets, trousers, shirts and dresses that you’d expect to not date faster than your filofax.

Texture adds interest to black on black.

A belted rose-print shift.

Beautiful faces created by M.A.C Cosmetics.

Black and fuchsia goody bags.

Lastly, some amazing shoes on guests at the party.

Beautiful canapes – not to mention the macarons which had real gold leaf on the top. Trelise always knows how to throw a party.
