The star cluster Matariki – also known as Pleiades, and Subaru, and The Seven Sisters – is an open cluster of many stars in the constellation Taurus. It is also the name of a fashion label from Mount Maunganui available at Sisters boutique.
The first appearance before sunrise of Matariki in the north-eastern sky indicates the beginning of the M?ori year – about the middle of June. But you won’t have to wait that long to get into these Seven Sisters.
