Thread visited the new children’s concept store in Barry’s Point Road Takapuna, Kidzspace, which has recently opened on the Shore after the success of its Epsom location.

Kidzspace is a beautiful store which basically sets out an entire room for your kids so you can pick n’ match your favourite interiors from a designer range.

Starting from the front of the store, the display rooms get older chronologically with girls on the left and boys on the right, culminating in the teenaged rooms at the back of the bus. But there’s no tantrums here; it’s all perfectly ordered with not a hair out of place. Storage ideas are what Kidzspace do well, with baskets, buckets and boxes galore.

The mostly white wooden furniture is manufactured in NZ from solid wood and Kidzspace staff change the linen designs to create new looks. You may remember, if you are my age, the Levene’s stores that David Levene began, with their innovative ‘whole rooms’; a concept taken on board for junior here.

Thread’s favourite was the motorbike room.

The biggest selling room in Epsom’s Kidzspace store is the teenagers’ room. "They all want black!" owner Lynne told me. "So we introduce bits of black softened with grey, and use black as accents."

The Kidzspace accessories wall is ideal for present giving or adding the finishing touches to your child’s room.

Toowit twoo! How cute are these wee owl bookends?
