I was honoured to be featured on TheStyleByte.com in their personal profile feature, “Inside tastemakers closets” in a fun Q&A interview, with photos of some of my favourite things…
The original article is online here on TheStyleByte.com and is also pasted below.
Name: Megan Robinson
Hometown: Auckland
Day Job: Mum to two toddlers and Owner/Editor of Thread.co.nz fashion website .
Daily Uniform: As anyone who works from home knows, this varies WILDLY if you are to be seen or not to be seen! So unseen it is trousers or jeans and a sweater, seen it is my standard dress over leggings and boots or heels and a jacket.
This morning I ate: Oh the terribly glamorous, Nutrigrain and Golden Crunch!
My closet is: spread around the three wardrobes of the house and in the basement and doesn’t adhere to my husband’ strict one-in-one-out rule. Plus I go op-shopping and hit Fairs and designer sales so it keeps getting bigger. I’m trying to sell unwanted things on trademe but then I decide I love them and want to keep them!
Currently on high rotation:I am not that loyal, I mix it up quite a bit really so I have about 60 things on high rotation (ha ha) including… pink cranes kimono from Japan, Glassons jumpsuit, Savemart faux fur jacket and retro leather patch dress. (also pictured below Sheryl May floral pant suit, photo by FOUR EYES blog)
On my shopping list, right now: I never know until I see it. That’s the trademark of the Impulsive Hoarder, it runs in the female side of my family. Oh wait – I want a breton-style French striped top.
Beauty products I swear by: Antipodes Grapeseed butter cleanser, Dr Hauschka Lemongrass Vitalising Body Wash, Antipodes Immortal SPF 15 Moisturiser, Becca Matte Skin Shine Proof Foundation
Greatest indulgence: Kathryn Wilson high heels
I’m dying to go to: bed earlier! No um oh I would love to go to the Cinque Terre in Italy.
No closet should be without: coat hangers – complete disaster otherwise. Men call it the horizontal wardrobe but I call it a mess.
My style icon is: La Kate Moss.
Any style secrets, tips or tricks?: I go to Fairs and Savemart and get cool finds. I don’t really go to those designer secondhand shops. I wear hats when I haven’t done my hair, and leggings when I haven’t done my legs. They’re quite old fashioned, but wearing a slip under a dress looks really good, eliminates VPL and is so warm. I like to apply eyebrows with an eyeshadow colour rather than a pencil, which looks severe on blondes.
