The Week On Thread Episode 129

Goat Island holiday park

Wood cabin at Goat Island Holiday park. Not for the faint hearted! Goat Island campground is rugged and ideal for those wanting a hippy, rustic camp experience without the mod cons.

Wearing an orange Karen Walker ruffle-sleeved dress

LOVE this place- Charlie’s gelato has bean bags in their grapevines to rest on and chill out with their divine icecreams and pizza made right there in their outdoor pizza oven. Wearing an orange Karen Walker ruffle-sleeved dress.

martins bay campervan

Loving my retro caravan, Martins Bay holiday park. I love how interior designers of yore wanted to throw together mustard, lime and coral with wild abandon and caution to the wind. Very cute 10/10 would caravan again.

Too crowded :) Scandretts Bay beachfront. Rare dotterel chicks are nesting so watch where you step- but they loudly peep at you to beware!

Mediterranean? No, Mangawhai! At Bennetts Chocolates brick piazza chocolate factory and cafe. Olive dress by Three Of Something.

Disney's Aladdin

What a magical carpet ride! Incredible music, an abs-solutely talented cast (they have amazing abs) and really stunning set design including Arabian city towers, cave of wonders, and a flying carpet. See what I wore, on the purple carpet, at Agrabah AKA Civic Theatre Auckland. I totally loved Disney’s Aladdin the musical, go see it.

panettone by Flamigni 1930 of Italy, from Sabato

Italy meets New Zealand beach, with an amazing panettone by Flamigni 1930 of Italy, from Sabato, at the beach. They have used the yeast since 1930 and it’s handmade by artisans in Italy with candied fruits; it’s absolutely divine.

Having a wine on the deck of a boat, ha ha! At Bethshan Motel Algies Bay - such a beautiful place.

Wearing my Mi Piaci bracelet reading their new season catalogue; swipe through for a sneak peek of AW19 styles, including Western cowboy boots, removable detailing in scarves and equestrian strapping, and some sparkle with diamante details. Statement heels continue to make an impact, in tortoiseshell and metal silver linings giving a glamorous nod to the Western trend. Colour-wise, mustard is still a huge seller and teams great with denim too. Dusky pink and snakeskin as well as green and maroon make up the beautiful winter palette.

I made: watermelon iceblocks. Simply cut up watermelon into slices, slice the rind 1cm with a pointy knife to insert a wooden stick, and freeze. Perfect for sugarfree cool snacks on summer days. Swimsuit is by Moontide Swimwear.

skechers marathon

BEST day, doing Skechers Women’s marathon with my daughter, down at Villa Maria Estate followed by wine! We are so proud of our medals for finishing, and the track was really cool as it went past the grapevines, the shoreline, forest paths, and horses. Fabulous mother-daughter time in the outdoors that we’ll always remember. Lovely to see @alexmoulden @melaniehomer@sonia_diversions on the run. Thank you for having us and for the awesome kicks, @skechersnewzealand

First trip of the new year to Blaze Newmarket with my lovely hairdresser Philiann @annvhair for a nice, freshen up and goodbye to the summer dry ends and a toner as swimming had made it go quite yellow. Thanks to 20th Century Fox we had a private cinema screening of The Kid Who Would Be King tonight with family and friends. I really enjoyed it the movie; a contemporary retelling of King Arthur and Excalibur set in a London school with some fantastic child actors and plenty of action. Thank you @20thcenturyfoxnz for hosting us! Screen Shot 2019-02-04 at 12.22.48 pm

What I wore today at the opening night for MADIBA the Musical, a powerful celebration of the life of Nelson Mandela, at Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna. Through use of music, narration, dance, and backdrops, it covers the decades from his journey as a lawyer to his fight for civil rights and social justice with 27 years imprisonment during apartheid in South Africa and ends with the freedom and right to vote. It felt very timely to me with world events and #blacklivesmatter.

A highlight this week was the launch of Kiwi High Tea at Cordis Auckland which opens on 1st February. It showcases the best of New Zealand cuisine across savoury and sweet dishes and Cordis' own cheese to finish. My favourite was the dessert in photo 3 that looks like a tomato plant in a pot! Incredible presentation by the Chefs and it tasted divine. Wondering about quantity? There was so much food I couldn't eat it all and had to get a doggy box. Such a lovely experience and perfect for a birthday or special day out. Screen Shot 2019-02-04 at 12.25.06 pm Screen Shot 2019-02-04 at 12.25.13 pm
