TOMS launched in NZ with a party at Ponsonby Central, bringing the shoe brand that gives one pair to a child in need for every pair sold to New Zealand.

Their famous ‘One for One’ motto is joined by a new initiative of funding a cataract operation for every pair of TOMS sunglasses sold. A million shoes have been distributed to over 40 countries now by TOMS.

You can buy TOMS shoes in New Zealand at Sitka shoes. The canvas basic shoe is $85, women’s crochet flats are $110, men’s leather $145.

One of Thread’s fave local artists, Tanya-Jade aka Misery, took part in a TOMS shoe art project for charity. Another colaboration is with the organisation charity:water, whereby each pair of yellow-arm TOMS sunglasses sold provides $10 for water projects in India, where charity:water has funded almost 450 water projects serving more than 194,000 people with clean and safe drinking water.
