Konnichi-wa! Since studying Japanese and living in Japan, I have been in love with kimonos and so I am over the moon that now they’re a massive trend. Basically this is why I love kimonos:

They fit everybody – you don’t have to be a size 6 to wear one.

They look great on everyone – never seen anyone look bad in a kimono yet.

They are versatile – you can wear them open as a cover up, belt them as an actual top, and dress them up or down.

They make every outfit look instantly ‘polished’ – and you never fail to get compliments on them as they add a pop of colour and pattern.

They are also practical – they give a cover up layer for cooler days and nights without looking like a Nana cardi.

It is fantastic if you manage to find a genuine Japanese vintage kimono – but let’s face it they are getting rarer to find and are often in tiny sizes. A great place to buy new ones online is www.ark.co.uk and I’ve hand-picked my favourites for you below.
