Jerry Clayton BMW and The Department Store were host to Urban Health Retreat on Tuesday 26 July in a pampering, and information-packed evening for over 80 women from cars, to hair, to skincare, and some delicious food and wine.
One of the most prestigious car dealerships in Auckland, Jerry Clayton BMW combined forces with Stephen Marr and wife Lucy Marr of Lucy & the Powder Room in an event to showcase their respective businesses bringing the best of each world – whether automotive or beauty – to the North Shore of Auckland in Takapuna Beach.
The Urban Health Retreat brought together healthy food and wine, with speakers presenting on healthy skincare and weightloss concepts, in one of the classiest events of late.
Tim Lightbourne of Invivo Wines has recently launched a healthy alternative in wine that will especially appeal to women watching their weight- Bella, a low-calorie, low alcohol white wine that tastes great. We enjoyed glasses of Bella by Invivo with gourmet treats including raw fish sushi, beef and spinach canapes, and vegetarian dumplings in dipping sauce.

Dr Libby Weaver author of new bestseller, Accidentally Overweight. I personally came away inspired and completely motivated to look at how I am eating, drinking, and breathing; and keen to read her book, which went to bestselller status in only two weeks after its release in January.
Next, we were chauffeured in the new 5 Series BMW – a beautiful ride – around the corner to learn some runway hair tips from the experts.
Below: Guests inside Stephen Marr at The Department Store – with glasses recharged with Bella wine – watch the hair demo.
Matt from Stephen Marr sews an up-do into a model’s hair using needle and thread. The hairdo can be easily removed by cutting any place on the thread and simply pulling it out as the hair falls down.

Preparing the long hair model for the ponytail. The front was sectioned off and given volume to create a lift on the crown.

Below: A poster – aptly with shine on it- for Stephen Marr’s hot new treatment, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, a brilliantine gloss infusion hair treatment. The two hair models had it done and looked amazing. We were invited to touch the models but I refrained.
We headed on down a floor to hear from the informative representative from Bio-Actives at Lucy and the Powder Room. Lucy Marr, pictured below left standing in black, is a huge advocate for natural and organic skincare and created the Sans range, used and sold here.
Hats off to Jerry Clayton BMW and The Department Store for a fabulous evening at the Urban Health Retreat. What a way to brighten up a winter’s evening. I’ll be back soon to try the Osmosis medi facial. Sadly, not arriving by BMW.
