Sealord cooking school

Sealord invited us along to Main Course for a cooking school using fish, and sent this healthy seafood pack with sliders and wraps, to my house for dinners. So good for you, and they taste great.

Disney’s PLANES: FIRE AND RESCUE

The sequel to Planes is in cinemas September 25 for the New Zealand school holidays. I liked it more than the first one, and recommend it to all parents of pre-school or primary aged children – my boy and girl aged 3 and 4 loved it and there was just the one scary bit with a forest fire, but it is kept light and not too frightening for kids. In the photo below is dipper, one of the key female roles in Fire & Rescue, who is fun and spirited and actually has a crush on Dusty. I especially liked that Dusty gets a disability but stays positive and seeks a life change and new career in fire fighting to help his friends after hometown Radiator Springs airstrip is threatened with closure if its fire team isn’t up to scratch.

MAX Summer Launch

On Monday morning we headed along at a civilised hour of 10am for brunch at Sapphire Room in Ponsonby Central, to sip a Coffee Supreme, nibble on Foxtrot Parlour treats, and view the Max Fashions summer launch entitled St Tropez.

MEXICO menu tasting

On Thursday I whetted my appetite for all things Mexican for the new season menu tasting at Mexico in Britomart. As well as launching their summer menu, which was fabulous, it was the launch of their hot sauces which have been a labour of love for the chef and his team for many months in the making. The owner of all 8 Mexico branches spoke and explained that they are not a franchise at all, but a locally-owned business that takes huge pride in their customer service and client experience. It’s great to see such a passionate entrepreneur and all success to him and his team. My fave dish was the mushroom kale tacos and the raw fish.

I’d turn vegetarian for these. The mushroom fried kale tacos at Mexico.

Cirque du Soleil TOTEM

Thanks to Olay, I was lucky enough to received two amazing seats near the very front at Cirque du Soleil TOTEM! It was totally incredible and the costumes were out of this world.

Chef on DVD

I so enjoyed Jon Favreau back in the heyday of Swingers and it’s great to see him recently in Cuban Fury, and now Chef. I totally loved this warm and funny film, which is now on DVD, and have been recommending it to everyone. Twitter and social media plays a large role in it so I doubly enjoyed that.

Benefit Cosmetics party for Shaaanxo

Congratulations Shaaanxo Shannon on reaching the mind-blowing achievement of 1 million subscribers on Youtube. The beauty queen of Youtube in New Zealand celebrated her success at the party in the aptly-title XO Bar in Skycity on Saturday night, after a busy day meeting and greeting her many fans that queued up at Smith & Caughey’s Newmarket Benefit counter. “I have posed for so many selfies today!” she laughed to us, as she took one of her and I together at the party, and she looked picture-perfect.

Such a cool and creative idea at the event – guests had our portraits drawn by a cartoonist. Photo below by Sin-Mae Chung instagram.com/omgwtfork

Father’s Day

Sunday was Father’s Day. As it was also my child’s birthday party I decided I didn’t have to get my husband a gift as I’d already gone to the trouble of having a child, and that was quite enough – after all, children are the gift that go on giving. Instead, I gave him this awesome Savar NZ natural skincare- which of course is not just for Father’s Day -it’s perfect anytime of year. He’ll be enjoying the Savar Face Wash and Moisturiser.

Ostro Britomart

I’ve downloaded the #wherenextapp which is free and created locally by Heart of the City in Auckland to basically locate cool places to go and my first choice for dinner is OSTRO! I decided to go for Father’s Day dinner with my husband.

Frozen Party

On Sunday we threw a children’s party inspired by Disney’s Frozen, with a snow cave in the dining room. I did it all on a budget (about $38 for decorations) so I think i shall do a blog post to share ideas on creating a cheap Frozen theme party for your kids. The children loved it and had such a great time.
