Here’s what we’re liking right now, in This week with Thread: Episode 1
Amazing ingredients and Villa Maria wine arrived for me to live tweet-and-cook prawns and duck this Sunday from 6pm sharp. You can follow the launch action by following the #mastermatch hashtag on Twitter and following @joshemett and @threadnz. The public can get recipes and wine matches at www.mastermatch.co.nz, which is a brand new invention by Josh himself.
Ever since I was a kid, I have adored David Attenborough, so when I had the chance for a photo with him in London over ten years ago when he appeared on a TV show I was in the guest audience for, I leapt at the chance.
He’s spent all of my life – and a good chunk of his own – documenting living things and so it’s no surprise we consider him a living treasure. But what animals continue to fascinate him? It’ll be cool to see which ones do, in the new season of BBC Knowledge David Attenborough’s Natural Curiosities Series 2 which is starting tomorrow, June 8th, at 7.30pm on Igloo TV. In this series he talks about everything from Komodo dragons through to aphids. Whatever animal it is, one thing’s for sure, his voice just sums up ‘nature doco’ for me and this will be a must-see.
I really enjoyed the new smart and witty rom-com, ‘Words and Pictures’, starring Clive Owen & Juliette Binoche. It’s a love story set in a high school with a war of words vs art between an English Masters teacher, and an Art Masters teacher, who are damaged in different ways, and fall in love. It was funny, and thoughtful at the same time. You can win tickets right now here on Thread.
If you love winter and, like Queen Elsa in Frozen, the “cold never bothered you anyway”, then you’ll love the new Aotea Square Ice Rink with an ice slide! We’re heading along this Thursday to the opening event to have a slide 35 metres long. Children $15, adults $20 at the door, includes skate hire. For more info see www.aucklandlive.co.nz/aoteasquareicerink
I am extremely excited to be going to opening night of Annie the Musical at the Civic Theatre and the media call to witness the international-and-local cast (and dog) singing and dancing this classic story. I’ll be shooting photos at the media call, so stay tuned for a sneak peek. You can buy tickets at Ticketmaster.co.nz and get more info at their website, www.anniethemusical.co.nz
Last but not least, I’m going to the Bloggers Laptop Club in Auckland run by Laura Laura Blog‘s Laura Lock and Madicattt‘s Madeleine de Young. I can’t wait to meet the other bloggers, eat brunch, and learn new skills.
