Anya and Megan headed in to fashion showroom Ciel PR’s range day this week to see what’s in store for Autumn Winter 2012 from labels including Chaos & Harmony, Nyne, Maaike, Deborah Sweeney, Riddle Me This, Soko bags, Nude shoes, Meadowlark jewellery and more…
Below: A colourful array of gorgeously-soft leather handbags from Gisborne label, Soko bags designed by Leah McCann. I have admired these from afar (well, Auckland) for ages, and they were even better in the flesh. (Read about Soko on Thread here.)
Anya’s picks:
Maaike Riot cardigan with the black Tube scarf over the Destroy dress underneath (just seen).
More monochrome fabulous fabric prints, from Nyne with their ‘The Cocoon #1’ and ‘Surface dress’.
Blak Luxe ‘Spiritual dress’ in signature print.
Vaughan Geeson ‘Gin dress’ and Meadowlark ‘Faceted multi-pendant’ in sterling silver.
Photos above, all by Chris Lorimer.
Below: a line-up of the new pointy shoe shape in wedges by Chaos & Harmony.
Our favourite was the burgundy leather and suede wedge by Chaos & Harmony.
Megan’s picks:
This tickled my fancy (and probably your nose!) with its fanciful furry-ness. Riddle Me This ‘Crazy cardi’ worn over a beautiful lace neverblack ‘May’ dress with Soko patterned handbag.
Deborah Sweeney has been inspired by Peruvian trails, with this winter collection that includes this Aztec cape (custom made in Stansborough Grey wool) and San Salvador pant in a signature print derived from images of feathers.
Oooh I would wear this anywear, particularly if I had invites to swanky Japanese restaurants or to parties aboard yachts. Deborah Sweeney ‘Ecuador jacket’ is a slouchy, boyfriend blazer with just the right amount of structure, and the Riddle Me This ‘Deep V dress’ treads the fine line between sexiness (with its see-through V) and prettiness (with its gathered waist.)
Matchi Motchi is a label we thoroughly loved seeing for the first time at NZ Fashion Week 2010. (Read our review here on Thread.) Below, their ’15 dress’ for next winter in the timeless combo of camel and black, in hard-edged leather made pretty in a scalloped bustline detail. It’s accessorised with a very cool Meadowlark Faceted necklace and Chaos & Harmony Clarice heels in black and burgundy suede.
