With ethical fashion production and the Fashion Revolution of #whomademyclothes on my lips this month, we take winter outfit inspo in this shoot from New Zealand-made and sustainable fashion from a selection of local labels, all available online at www.societynz.com.
As a believer in the benefits of buying investment pieces like good coats and jackets, I think quality over quantity is the way to go. Rather than buying lots of fast fashion, invest in a few quality pieces.
I’m wearing winter inspo for AW18 pieces by New Zealand designers Ingrid Starnes, Kathryn Wilson, Kate Sylvester, and Twenty-Seven Names in this winter shoot. I love that they’re all available conveniently at the same place online, at the fab website, societynz.com. Ingrid Starnes is all New Zealand-made product, with natural fabrics as well as small runs of styles meaning their footprint is low. For Twenty Seven Names, sustainability is a key focus in their ranges, with recycled materials and natural fibres used, and they often use surplus stock materials. Kathryn Wilson produces hand-made footwear with a focus on longevity instead of fast fashion. Kate Sylvester makes some product where viable in NZ, and has a big sustainability focus across the brand. They have just released their free repairs initiative aimed at focusing on the long term wear of their product.
