Womama, the stylish New Zealand brand for pregnant women, has a cute all-in-one Birthing Wrap dress that you can wear before, during and afterwards. You can breastfeed in it, birth in it, and sleep in it. How’s that for good value?

Womama Director Heidi Holbrook designed it after she was pregnant and found a gap in the market for a fashionably practical alternative to wearing your hubby’s man tee to hospital.

I road-tested the Birthing Wrap in black – of course- but it also comes in a pretty sapphire blue. They retail for around $130 on their website www.womama.co.nz as well as at various stockists throughout NZ.

I found it to be a loose fit at 17 weeks so it has plenty of room still to go and they design them to be worn right til the end and beyond. I liked that it had short sleeves, perfect for this weather but still nice to have a bit of sleeve and not be too revealing and singlet-strappy. It had just a nice amount of v-neck and cleavage; it’s good to make the most of your girls at this time, after all! At first I thought the fabric was quite heavy and would be too warm, but it is pure organic cotton so it breathes, and I think if it were any lighter, you would get the cling factor on your bum. Never a good look – you want the bump at the front accentuated, not behind.
