Thanks to Fudge, I was lucky enough to be a VIP guest at tonight’s Vodafone NZ Music Awards 2013 and see Lorde, Aaradhna, Shona Laing, and all the stars of the local music industry.
After having my hair done at Pullman Auckland by Fudge’s South Island Trainer, Annette, my hair felt red-carpet-ready. Annette did a side parting and braided the right side back to the nape of the neck and did big, loose curls on the left side. Thanks to Fudge hair products, it stayed looking good all night long. Next, I had a makeover from Smashbox artist Sammy in their Smashbox studio at the Pullman Spa.
Feeling slightly less suburban housewife and 100% more rock star, I headed in to Vector Arena for my first ever New Zealand Music Awards. It far exceeded my expectations. A big night for women – Lorde, Aaradhna, Shona Laing – also Lorde’s hair and Shannon Ryan’s legs.
Lorde won Single of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, International Achievement Award, and the People’s Choice Award. Aaradhna – who also sounded amazing in her live performance – won Album of the Year, Female Solo Artist and Best Urban/Hip Hop Album. Shapeshifter won Best Electronica Album and Best Group, and Jamie McDell won Best Pop Album.
Here are some highlights from the night…
Jamie’s World star Jamie Curry interviewed on the red carpet- the only kiwi arguably with 6 million Facebook followers!
Stars on the red carpet – Bret McKenzie, Jamie Curry of Jamie’s World, Anna and Jay Reeve, Amber Peebles.
Then I had some fan girl moments and met some of the stars for photos…
