Designers Madeleine Harman and Jessica Grubiša showed their Harman Grubisa AW15 collection, ‘Lean Close’, at The Department Store tonight in a salon-style show inside Lucy & The Powder Room. Seven models walked with hair by Stephen Marr salon led by Stylist Jason Chong-Li, and makeup with beautiful skin and oxblood deep lips. It was an incredibly accomplished collection, as expected, from the experienced design duo with an air of sophistication beyond their years, in fabrics that would daunt most: leather, satin, tassels. Their background in styling as well as design was apparent in the lean, modern pairing of garments. After canapes and a glass of Rochfort Rees in a shade perfectly matched to the lips and a shawl collared wool coat, models walked the retail store space and then racks were made available for guests to peruse, and with any luck, purchase. What did I like? The tie-belted leather a-line skirt for starters, and the tasseled jacket for mains, and the Dawn Coat in Maroon, to finish, thanks. That’d be my perfect fashion meal and after having seen a taster of what Harman Grubisa can do, I am hungry for more. Keep a close eye on this label, it will be going international. They’ve already been featured in i-D Vice, in Australian Vogue, and worn by Lorde. To shop, see their website www.harmangrubisa.com
