NYNE AW14: Nomadic

NYNE celebrated their 9th anniversary (9/9/2013) at NZ Fashion Week with an AW14 show entitled Nomadic, to live music with a rock guitarist from Thunderdykes…

NYNE is nine!

It’s not just a cute soundbite; it’s actually true; NYNE celebrated their 9th anniversary (9/9/2013) at NZ Fashion Week this week.

The design collective’s second ever fashion week show revealed their AW14 collection, entitled Nomadic, to live music with a rock guitarist from Thunderdykes.

Layered pieces were inspired by a "present-day wandering tribe, forever on the move." Names of pieces reflect this theme, with a Mobile Dress (not the phone), No Man’s Cardi, a Stray Bomber, and a Migrant Jacket.

There are androgyneous pieces to be worn together – shirts, wide trousers, slouchy knits, and woolen coats. Womenswear pieces in crepe, georgette and mesh moved fluidly on the models. We especially appreciated the headwear created for the show by Marmalade Hats by milliner Myra Lloyd in wool felt.

Happy ninth birthday NYNE! Here’s to many more happy returns.
