Street Style braves the rain at London Fashion Week

London has always had a prodigious street style reputation, but during London Fashion Week the city really steps it up. Street style around the fashion shows is the perfect place to snap new trends and get ideas on how to adapt the style from the catwalk into your personal wardrobe.

Flattering midi skirts (which fall anywhere between the knee and the ankle) are the skirt of the season. Worn in feminine prints or as part of a more minimalist aesthetic, midi skirts work well with heels or flats and can be incorporated easily into anyone’s wardrobe.

Pink has been an unexpected season favourite with pastel hues being the most popular. Pink accessories are an easy step into the trend, but pink skirts, trench coats and trousers were looking good all over the show.

Mannish oversized coats were keeping Londoners sheltered from the miserable Autumn weather with bold statement colors, metallics and leathers peeking out from underneath. London Metro picks the camel overcoat as being the season staple, but big coats in any colour will keep you looking stylish through the winter (or in New Zealand’s case, fresh spring breezes.)

It’s not all about the catwalk. Elysia Jenson finds style on the street…
