DISNEY’S CINDERELLA
Disney’s Cinderella was for me, as for many others of my generation, one of the first movies I saw. It came out in the Fifties when my parents were born and so I grew up with it being a classic and iconic piece of my childhood. It had everything; talking mice who could sew, a beautiful kind heroine, and a happy ending. Now years later it has been re-imagined as a live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, which brings to life the tale for my children, two generations on. I saw it myself last week as well as the new Frozen Fever 8 minute short film preceding it, and I absolutely loved both of them. I highly recommend it to all parents, and also to all lovers of magic, happy endings, and true love.

MANUKA DOCTOR
This fabulous ‘Queen Bee’ is one of two in-store at Manuka Doctor at 1 Quay St Auckland, and part of the Big Egg Hunt NZ quest and art auction for Starship children’s hospital. I headed in to their gorgeous flagship store and got a Radiance Serum to trial. I tell you – I have been using it every day since, and am loving it- I have been applying it morning and night. I do have quite sensitive skin and some things react and bee venom is one thing you need to watch out for and patch test in case you have a bee venom reaction or are allergic to beestings, but no problems whatsoever here – it’s been nourishing and calming each time. In the morning I apply one to two pumps over my face and neck and then can easily apply foundation or BB Cream over the top once it’s sunk in. At night after cleansing (I also tried out the Manuka Doctor facial wipes, which are fantastic in fact I am packing them for Japan) I’ve been applying the serum and then my usual moisturiser over it. The Apirefine Radiance Serum retails for $35.95 which is very reasonable indeed, and available from Life adn Unichem pharmacies, selected deapartemnt stores and at the concept store I mentioned above. See www.manukadr.co.nz for info or phone 09 300-3025.
JIMMY D 10 YEAHS
Designer James Dobson celebrated ten years of his cool and dark label JIMMY D with a party at Ponsonby stockist, THE SHELTER in Mackelvie Street, called JIMMY D 10 YEAHS. Guests had Dunkin Donuts and drinks amongst garments over the past decade displayed throughout the store. I particularly enjoyed seeing the archival pieces from collections over the years and I wore the spiderweb silk print dress there myself and there was one hanging in the window!

BRITOMART FASHION SESSIONS
Once again I headed to the excellent Britomart Fashion Sessions in Takutai Atrium in Britomart, and I attended Kathryn Wilson and then Zambesi on the Friday night, and Mindfood Style and Taylor on the Saturday. My fab photographer James Yang shot WORLD and Zambesi for our features on them here

URBIS DESIGNDAY
I always enjoy the blend of architecture, art, design and interiors at Urbis Designday each year so I headed along in between the Britomart Fashion Sessions shows on Saturday up to Khyber Pass to have a look around at the installations, which did not disappoint with their creativity. Bonus – the very kind (but possibly blind lol) Urbis editor stopped me to say I was the best dressed at Urbis Designday and took my outfit pic. Nice.
