Hats off to the simply stunning M∙A∙C colab with Philip Treacy, the iconic British milliner. Together they have released this collection of dramatic rich tones that are not for the shrinking violet, just for those who would wear violets on their heads; not for the wall flower amongst us, but rather those who would adorn their heads with flowers. Treacy drew inspiration from his internationally-renowned body of work in the fashion world to form these three headpieces that show off the structure of the face.
He has created three striking hats: a diamond helmet, a pink floral and feather hat, and a full face covering lace hat.
The M∙A∙C colab with Philip Treacy includes an Art Deco-patterned High-Light powder compact with silver detailing in Nude Pink champagne base with silver pictured here, and Blush Pink with silver (not shown), retailing at $64. There are three lipsticks in the collection; No Faux Pas, a yellow hot pink matte; Cardinal, a yellow burgundy red satin; and Hollywood Cerise, a magenta berry satin. For eyes, Fluidline eye paints come in Royal Wink, a bright ink blue; Blue Peep, a bright flat teal; and Blacktrack, a true flat black for $38 each. Pro Longwear Paint Pots come in Chrome Angel platinum silver, and Genuine Treasure reflects antique gold, at $48 each. In accessories there is a 127 split sided Face Brush ($85), and False Lashes ($48) in extreme black.
Below: I have photographed some of the new MAC range against images of the hats, and the butterflies in photo are by New Zealand milliner Natalie Chan, the golden floral headband by Karen Walker, and the velvet pink rose was in a wedding hat worn by my Grandmother.
M∙A∙C Philip Treacy is available from April 20th 2015 at select New Zealand M∙A∙C locations.
