I try: Chillsculpt at Caci Clinic

Imagine you could target pockets of ‘difficult’ fat and freeze them off. Does that sound too good to be true? Well, it is pretty much a reality now with the technology known as cryolipolysis that freezes and reduces fat cells using a suction pad machine. I headed in to try Chillsculpt out for myself at Caci Clinic in High Street Auckland.

In my consultation with a registered nurse, I learned that cryolipolysis is a surgery-free alternative to liposuction and is ideal for those who are aiming to shift stubborn pockets of fat. It is very safe with over 1 million cryolipolysis procedures done worldwide. Overseas this procedure is known under various brand names, including Coolsculpt. It is NOT a weight-loss solution – it targets small areas – and you must fall within a healthy BMI. There are a number of body areas that work well with cryolipolysis and for my treatment, I chose my outer thighs, and after being photographed and tape measured and weighed (they won’t do anyone under a BMI of 18) I had the treatment for 50 minutes.

So, what did it feel like? Really cold, although the hot gel-pad created a barrier between the vacuum suction pad and my skin, then no pain at all – although some women say it is painful. I was able to chat and text throughout so it wasn’t at all as bad as I thought it would be. To be fair, I have gone through childbirth twice, but this was nowhere as bad as having my eyebrows plucked. My thighs were very very red after the suction pads came off, but I had no bruising. The treatment price starts from $450 each session, although the price is reduced if you sign up to a programme, and you will receive a quote in the consultation. They are running a promotion at present where if you sign up to ChillSculpt before 14th June 2015, you receive a FITBIT Flex valued at $159.95. Usually you would have at least at least 3 or 4 treatments for the best results; apparently you can get a reduction of around 20% less fat after one treatment after about 3 weeks.

I will need to wait a few weeks to see any improvement as it won’t happen overnight; the fat cells need to die and be passed out of the body, through the metabolic system. Caci’s Sarah write down the ‘before’ measurements so I can use a tape measure at home and compare.

Caci Viaduct

In other Caci news, today – Monday 25th May- local owner Louise Woodhams officially opened the doors to the brand new Caci Viaduct, situated at 29 Graham Street, Auckland, bringing another great clinic to those who live and work in town which is really convenient for city workers.
