MAC makeup looks at Karen Walker at Marr Factory 2015

Following on from the feminist icons of the suffragettes from last collection, Karen Walker again nods to strong women with a collection inspired by actress Joanna Lumley in Sapphire and Steel. Designer Karen Walker says as a young girl she “watched in awe” the 1970s time-travelling crime-fighting detective series, and realised that “functional and strong does not exclude glam.”

And a time-travelling glam woman this muse is, with zipped-to-the-throat curvy denim dresses, sheepskin jackets, and long, floaty 70s dresses that venture to the Bohemian side of the era.

Prints of the season include a less-hippy-more-chic floral, a stained-glass clock illustration, and television-static projected into a painter pointillist print. Nothing could be a more literal translation of a time machine than a clock face, after all.
