Nom*D showcased their AW16 Autumn Winter collections in a show entitled ‘R.E.M’ at NZ Fashion Week 2015. REM stands for rapid eye movement, a stage of sleep with random eye movement and vivid dreams. It looks like designer Margi Robertson has been losing sleep designing all these stunning pieces – or perhaps they came to her in vivid dreams? Like all Nom*D collections, black and tartan checks all feature strongly. Contrasting cotton checks ripped without hemming formed a skirt. The same check cotton strips tied a tee-shirt to the front of male models making a bodice. The badges that we received in our goodybags appeared pinned all over a black shift dress on the runway. Who needs sleep when they have fashion?
Makeup
Forget smoky eyes, try smudgy slept-in eyes. The R.E.M theme continued to the makeup look by MAC Senior Artist Kiekie Stanners, with ‘I woke up like this’ makeup. Themed ‘Dream or Die’, it featured a worn-in dark eye makeup that could have been slept-in, teamed with dewy perfect skin.
On the face: M.A.C Natural Radiance and Prep + Prime Skin massaged into skin. M.A.C Studio Waterweight SPF30 Foundation applied with a #190 Foundation Brush.
On the eyes: M.A.C Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Tailor Grey lightly buffed with #217 Blending Brush, wrapped around the eye. M.A.C PRO Chromagraphic Pencil on upper and lower lash line, buffed out with #212 Brush. M.A.C Lip Conditioner applied to top and bottom lash line. Lips: M.A.C Naturally Transformed Lipstick pressed on to lips.
On the nails: Delicate Nail Lacquer.
Hair
Hair was created by the team at Stephen Marr using Original Mineral products. The inspiration was very bed-head! The look featured sharp centre parts with mussed-up slept-in hair falling loosely down, using hairspray and salt spray to achieve the look which wasn’t too perfect or too sleek.
