Fans of MAC will be very familiar with the Viva Glam campaigns that are fronted by a ‘face’ or celebrity and have stunning visual imagery. What’s best about these colabs though, is that 100% of all proceeds (not just profits) go to the MAC AIDS Fund to help people living with HIV and AIDS.
Viva Glam Miley Cyrus 2
The latest Viva Glam ambassador is a repeat visit by the fabulous Ms Miley Cyrus, fronting MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus 2. This sequel is just as sexy and romantic as the first blockbuster and its heroine wears an All-American floral bustier and short-shorts with a come-hither pout and blonde bombshell bangs in a platinum wig. I actually LOVE this look on her!
The lipstick and lipglass from MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus 2 features a sexy bright orange red and a shimmering lipgloss (last time it was a hot pink). The lipstick is very similar to Scarlet Ibis (also ‘Lady Danger’) which I already own and totally, completely, love. It is a velvety, rich and highly pigmented orange-red that is sure to get compliments each time you wear it, short-shorts or not. The Miley Cyrus 2 colours are available 10th September in NZ at MAC locations, for $40 and $38 each respectively.
Haute Dogs
MAC definitely has a sense of humour and is not afraid of a good pun. Their copywriter went to town on this collection, Haute Dogs- the name itself is a pun on ‘hot dogs’ and I especially like the product names; ‘Very Important Poodle’, Nose For Style, ‘Labradorable’ and ‘Dressed to the K9s’. The visual campaign is hilarious featuring three models who look like their dogs! From a poodle-inspired do in black eyeliner and deep berry lip, to a grey lapdog with brown tones and an burnt orange lip, to a blonde with caramel tones and a neutral nude lip with chic pedigree pup to match, this collection is certainly woman’s best friend.
Below: some of my children’s dogs meet the makeup!
Haute Dogs is quite a comprehensive collection, with some new and some old shades, as well as brushes and nail polishes. It’s probably not for you if you want a pop of colour or electric hues; it’s more ‘natural’ poochy shades in browns and berry lips. No hot pinks here!
As always, I would have preferred it to have interesting packaging – as it was such a cute concept and done with so much humour, I would have liked to have seen this on the cases with dogs on the packages and bullets (as seen with other MAC collections such as Rocky Horror and MAC Marilyn Monroe.
