Runway Report Michael Beel 2019 Zambesi Retrospective 40th Anniversary Show

40 years ago Robert Muldoon was Prime Minister, Th’Dudes won ‘Single Of The Year’ at the National Music Awards for ‘Be Mine Tonight’, Goodbye Pork Pie was on our screens and Zambesi was born.

Four decades on and Zambesi remains a formidable force in the fashion world, with co-founder Elisabeth Finlay and designer Dayne Johnston continuing to create meaningful and timeless pieces that last through the years.

Zambesi 40-year retrospective show had a mix of models and “Zamfam” walking – 52 models all up.

“We took reference from the archives of 40 years of beauty looks and worked out what is the quintessential Zambesi vibe for the hair” says Michael Beel, L’Oréal Professionnel Artist.

“The look was a lived-in oily root with dry beach texture placed at the ends. A few organic looking fishtail and conventional plaits placed sporadically around the head to give it some structure while looking effortless.”

L’Oréal Professionnel products used

Tecni.Art Liss Control (RRP $35)

Tecni.Art Pli Thermo Modelling Spray (RRP $35)

Tecni.Art Savage Panache Texturizing Powder Spray (RRP $35)

Tecni.Art Beach Waves Spray (RRP $35)

Create the look:

Steps on how to get the look…

1. Prep the hair with lots of Tecni.Art Pli Modelling Spray and Tecni.Art Beach Waves. Dry in encouraging any natural movement but keep the roots flat.

2. Go back in and enhance texture with a curling tong to get a beach wave type of texture (if needed).

3. Apply Tecni.Art Liss Control liberally at the roots throughout the whole head till about 10cms down the hair – this will make the roots look oily and lived in.

4. Work with the natural parting, nothing too forced.  Taking random sections add in a multitude of plaits and fishtail braids, keeping it organic and lived in.

6. Finish with a good spray of Tecni.Art Savage Panache.
