The headband trend is everywhere right now and has been seen in the international collections at Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, and many more. They have appeared in many High Street stores and department stores but they are so a quick and easy to make, and such a pretty way to style up any outfit for a dressy occasion. I particularly like a headband on a bad hair day -just pop one on and voila, you look dressed. Today I made a dress using embroidered tulle, and pearl-studded headband to match.

DIY Fashion Craft Project: Making a Pearl or Crystal Studded Headband

What You Need:
You may have a plain headband in satin or velvet already that you want to decorate, or you can easily pick one up at a craft store or hair accessories shop in a Mall.
Buy a pack of about 20 pearl beads.
A glue gun and glue sticks.
A hard surface underneath to protect your table.

What To Do:
Start in the middle and once your glue gun is heated put a dot of glue, smaller than you think you need, in the middle. the glue spreads and you don’ want to see any glue around the pearl bead.

Working outwards from the middle, place dots of glue and beads in a haphazard zig zag pattern so you don’t end up with straight lines of beads. You want a nice polkadot end result.

Tips and Hints
Don’t do all the glue dots then all the beads, as the glue dries very fast. Do one glue dot at a time and quickly place the bead on it.
Try coloured crystals for a colourful headband look.

The Finished Result
Wear your pearl headband with monochrome outfits to match the black and white, or to lift a black dress, or with colourful outfits. You can wear it instead of a fascinator to formal events too. Have fun creating!
