HOW TO WEAR: I try on new season party dresses

In this column of HOW TO WEAR showcasing styling different clothing, I try on new season party dresses in the holiday season of the new year for 2010. It’s true i have been wearing a lot of full length dresses lately but for party wear, sometimes it’s great to try on a short dress and dance the night away. Below, I wear a few short dresses with both long sleeves and short, in a variety of off the shoulder and cap sleeves – as well as a surprise addition of a party-prefect trouser option. So let’s get the party started.

Rust Satin Draped Mini Dress

I’m in love with the colour and drape of this Rust Satin Draped Mini Dress; the Tatiana dress by Femme Luxe

This luxe satin material is silky and feels amazing on, and the draped top with long sleeves is so chic and balances the short skirt well. I always think, it’s nice to have more coverage up top if you have less below, to provide a balanced look, like you would do a nude lip with a smoky eye. Jewellery-wise, a high neck goes well with a statement earring instead of a necklace.

Statement Sleeve Bodycon Mini Dress

Elegant but eye-catching, cream is a beautiful option for night. This Winona Camel Satin Puff Sleeve Bodycon Mini Dress by FemmeLuxe features a key trend for the season; the puffed sleeve, with a gathered bodice front, back zip, and comfortable satin that lets you dance. I teamed the Bodycon Mini Dress with matching patent heeled boots and chandelier earrings by Lovisa. Featuring a long sleeve with a puffed top, this dress is amaze for those nights out.

Leopard Print Organza Mini Dress

You can’t feature party dresses without having a leopard print, now can you? This has a modern twist on the classic leopard print in a grey and black spot instead of yellow, perfect for a fresh take, or for those who don’t like yellow. The fabric is a very cool slick print on organza. What I like about this Jodie Grey Leopard Print Organza Puff Sleeve Bodycon Mini Dress from FemmeLuxe is that you can wear the sleeve either on or off the shoulder. Tip – choose a strapless bra when you wear an off-the-shoulder dress style. I teamed it with matching grey shiny boots, a evening leather bag by Deadly Ponies, and another key trend – the black velvet headband.

Nude Mesh Organza Ruffle Mini Dress

Ruffles and frills are perfect for parties, so I was instantly drawn to Iris Nude Mesh Organza Ruffle Bodycon Mini Dress by Femme Luxe. The front bodice features a lace up tie and the ruffles go from the front, up and over the off the shoulder sleeves. The skirt is gathered in a tight fitted look that you can team with blush pink accessories for a pretty and feminine outfit.

Pink Iridescent Sequin Tie Back Flare Leg Co-ord – Mylie

And now, for those who don’t want to wear a dress to the party, I have chosen a cool alternative look – a Pink Iridescent Sequin Tie Back Flare Leg Co-ord -called Mylie by Femme Luxe. Sparkle and shine this season in the Pink iridescent Sequin Tie Back Flare Leg Co-ord. With a satin back tie top and matching flare trousers in a luxe iridescent sequin material, you’re sure to be the light, I mean life, of the party.

So there we have it, my party dresses feature with ideas on wearing minis with sleeves and off the shoulder looks, for evening and cocktail wear. Whether you’re off to a wedding or ball and want outfit inspo, I hope you found some style inspiration here. Enjoy the party!
