HOW TO WEAR IT: Mix and Match Clashing Textures to Create Interesting Outfits
OUTFIT ONE
Black and white houndstooth pants
I love a patterned pant. Jeans are great, but let’s hear it for a nice pant. I’m wearing black and white houndstooth pants with a black lace blouse for a clash of texture and contrast. This is quite an after-5 look I would wear to a bar with the girls for drinks or for dinner out, but it could easily be styled more casual by changing the heel to a white sneaker and a crisp white t-shirt. It’s a classic look that feels really French and Audrey Hepburnesque, especially with the cigarette-leg skinny pants. Styling Tip: Dress it up with a black heel, or a flat sandal for a casual yet classy look.

OUTFIT 2
Sheer pink blouse with puff sleeves, worn with paperbag waist pants
I’m mixing a sheer pink blouse with puff sleeves with a solid pant fabric, for a blend of textures and a bit of a evening-wear-daywear clash vibe as well.
Puff sleeves are the hottest trend right now and have been strong for 3 seasons now and show no signs of giving up. I love the way they add drama to an outfit and volume to your shoulders. This pink blouse features another key trend, which is a high neck wit a bow. It is the perfect mix of vintage style and modern sass.

OUTFIT 3
Bodycon strappy midi dress
Contrast fabric with cutouts for a peephole of skin for evening glamour. A bodycon dress is perfect for your own Hollywood star factor whether it’s on a big night out, or a dinner date. Styling tip: Turn heads with a killer heel and if you wear bare legs remember to apply fake tan or moisturise with a shimmery body lotion for a gleaming, smooth skin for evening.

OUTFIT 4
Paper bag waist trouser with a top tucked in.
I think that paperbag waist pants have a cool, relaxed feel with their loose pleated look waist detail and they are so comfortable to wear. Styling tip: always wear a smooth or tucked in top with paper bag waisted pants, as you can’t wear a top out over them due to the waist gathers. Team the interesting ruffles of a paper bag waist trouser with a fitted top to create interest and contrast in silhouettes. A wide-legged pant is always so chic and I find really comfortable to wear.

So I hope you’ve enjoyed these ideas for styling your own outfits to mix and match clashing textures and you can create interesting looks with some unexpected – but fun – clashes, to great result.
