Charlotte Devereux, best known for her Egg Maternity label, has just launched her first fashion collection eponymously-titled ‘Charlotte Devereux’, with Aja Rock as model of the new mermaid-inspired line.
Charlotte Devereux says it is a label that has come from "A need for modern, practical yet romantic designs" for women.
The collection comprises floaty, silky pieces that drape the body with a Grecian aesthetic. Tailored suiting, it is not. Perfect for cocktails on your yacht though.
The Charlotte Devereux Spring/Summer 10/11 range is inspired by "mythological mermaids and the simplicity of the depths of the ocean" as seen in the fluid lines of the dress below on Aja Rock as a mermaid who has come ashore. Daryl Hannah never looked this good.
The spring palette is made of fresh seashell shades of corals, dusty pinks and off-whites, in a range of maxi dresses, chiffon printed kaftans and flowing tops.
Charlotte says she has "rejected stiff formalities of tailored summer wear and created soft, body conscience clothes that are silhouette free." She wants to give the feeling that all pieces could be worn paired with a black narrow jean.
The Charlotte Devereux collection is available at selected stores Auckland wide.
