I remember when Coke changed their formula.

There was an uproar. I can only imagine what it would have been like if the Internet had been around. Suffice to say, Coke changed back.

Clarins has had their popular tinted moisturizer, Moisture Tint, on the market for 23 years. Now, they’ve updated it to HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer SPF6 enriched with katafray extract to boost the hydrating power.

They’ve also extended the range of tinted shades to further suit more women’s colouring.

There’s been somewhat of a stir amongst Clarins loyalists about the change. Having not tried Moisture Tint before, I’m not able to compare and contrast, but I tried out the new HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer in conjunction with the new version of their popular primer.

Also an updated product – but in format rather than formulation – is their skin primer, Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate ($60). It is a pen version of their Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch which launched in 2006 and went on to sell over 2 million units. It fills in fine lines, and evens the complexion.

To use the pen, you wind it up – it takes ages to start off- and the primer oozes out. It is much thicker than other primers I’ve used, but glides on to a very smooth consistency.

The idea of the pen is to create a targeted application tip onto wrinkles, but I found it was just as easy to take the product from the pen with fingertips and rub it in, thus the pen format wasn’t hugely different to just having it in a pump bottle. The pen is, however, portable, and can be used for touch-ups throughout the day, even over make-up. It gave a satiny smooth, polished finished result. Would recommend.

Next I applied HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer SPF6.

Now, like any tinted moisturiser, this doesn’t give much coverage, but what I was impressed with, was its moisture-rich consistency and the healthy glow. I have a dewy look still after 6 hours on my cheeks. I even got told I looked fabulous but I’m sure that was an overly-generous compliment!

It does come out dark, darker than you expect from the shade number, so go lighter if deciding between two shades.
