M∙A∙C loves makeup like nobody and now the makeup legends at MAC Cosmetics have turned their attention to the frames of our face: the eyebrows, with the new collection of professional products: BROWS ARE IT! Whether you like them thin and defined, arched and glam, or bushy and natural, there is a product for you, and a method of application to suit.
You’ll already be familiar with eyeshadows as brow colour to apply with a brush, and with the wind up brow pencils, but a new release in Brows Are It is the big and beautiful Big Brow Pencil. It is a larger sized mechanical pencil with a formulation of both wax and powder for a less defined, blown out brow look. MAC Makeup Artist KieKie Stanners (pictured below) talked us through the techniques and products at MAC Smith & Caughey Newmarket on Wednesday 27th April, demonstrating on Bernie from Unique Models.
Kiekie Stanners said she uses the Big Brow Pencil to draw BACKWARDS against the direction of the hair, and lift up the hairs, thus coating them in the waxy pencil colour. This creates texture, and she can add another dimension and a contrast in colour so it doesn’t look flat, using the brow wand mascara in Boy Girl, a great mid-brown shade.

Beauty media had the opportunity to learn about perfect eyebrows last night from MAC Cosmetics’ Kiekie Stanners at #macbrowsareit. I especially love the easy-to-use Big Brow Pencil which is like a chubby stick for brows. Of the various methods from “easy” to “tricky” I’d say it starts from the mascara wand for a easy slick of colour; or a chubby crayon to draw on brows; to the eyeshadow and brush, to the most precise – as you need a steady hand- the eyebrow gel pot with brush.
