Where many designers rush into having bricks n’ mortar, Cybele has decided to establish her brand and do wholesale for years, and recently began clicks n’ mortar with her online shop, opened a pop-up store, and now a boutique on Ponsonby Road…
Cybèle Wiren has been biding her time, and the time is right.
She is opening her first ever boutique on the first of March at 62 Ponsonby Road.
Where many designers rush into having bricks and mortar, she has decided to establish her brand and wholesale to many New Zealand and international stores for a number of years and recently started clicks and mortar with her online shop selling direct to customers.
Over summer she had a pop-up store in Ponsonby Road, with some limited edition pieces and gorgeous children’s wear too.
The Ponsonby presence has become a permanent fixture with her new boutique, in a character space that Cybele was drawn to, including the discovery of reclaimed Parquet floor.
Having her own shop means the entire range of her AW11 Nieriya collection can be shown in the way she desires. “The store is about creating a uniquely ‘us’ space where the emphasis is on the brand and our aesthetic,” says Cybèle.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do,” says the designer. “For years people have been asking me why I don’t have my own store and now just feels like the right time. I’m ready for a change and a new challenge!”
“I have always been drawn to Ponsonby as a retail district and the space itself has great character – it’s such an eclectic district full of creative people,” says Cybèle. “This is definitely the boutique fashion hub of Auckland and we are thrilled to finally become a permanent fixture.”
