MATCHESFASHION.COM showcased an exclusive high summer collection with womenswear designer Emilia Wickstead, as part of the official schedule for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. Julie Roulston went backstage for ThreadNZ to tell us all about the models’ beauty…
Backstage at Emilia Wickstead x Matches.com was literally breathtaking. The Edwardian era Wylie’s baths at Coogee, a cracker of a blue Sydney sky – just add lanky models, pampered skin and high end beach hair.
Thread was hosted by Nikita Papas for French skincare brand La Roche Posay. Specialising in sensitive skin, the brand ‘s products are infused with thermal spring water, most containing no more than 12 ingredients (have a look at the back of your average skincare bottle!) Ever the gracious host, Nikita even misted us with La Roche Posay mattifying spray to combat the miraculously warm weather.
Key makeup artist Isabella Schmid prepped the models’ skin extensively, even applying sunscreen products, and used shades from the La Roche Posay bronzer palette to amplify the models’ natural blush.
Tony & Guy hair director Katy Reeve let Emilia Wickstead’s ‘60s and ‘70s inspirations guide her in designing the hair: a ‘/just came out of the water’ effect mostly peeked at under Wickstead’s sunhats, headscarves and swimming caps.
