Editor’s Pick of Collection of the Day: Thurley

Editor’s Pick of Collection of the Day: Thurley. I would wear all these sculptural, pretty dresses, with their crochet and lace and broderie that simultaneously covered and concealed the body.

The show was well-designed with benches set on angles throughout the gallery on-site at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2018 that allowed the maximum amount of guests o be ‘front row’ and get a good close-up view of the garments.

The runway began with an all-white opening tableau of a group of models in white lace garments together as one by one they peeled off and walked the room. After the white section, coloured outfits took the floor, in blues, black, and pastels.

Construction was especially complex. There were layers, ruffles, lacing, and cutaway details – but not the dreaded bridal meringue. We love how it worked equally well flipping over into black and black grounds, or in floaty print.
