The Mercedes-Benz Presents Kate Sylvester show “a Muse” at NZ Fashion Week 2015 ended the first amazing day at this year’s fashion week with her AW16 collection against a stage set of abstract art depicting the three muses.
Kate Sylvester is always one of the leading labels I get excited about seeing each year. Last year, her collection drew upon literally references and ended with shredded novels falling from the roof onto the models and audience. This year, it drew from the world of art with garments referencing classic artists’ muses in their knit sweaters over maxi skirts scraping the floor, elegantly dishevelled beauties and prim and proper looks hiding secrets within. I especially loved the pointy collar detailed top, and lace dresses with furs.
I went backstage and say Kiekie Stanners talking the makeup artists through the face which was characterised by a black eyeline between the eyelid and eyebrow. My Instagram pic is below.
