The Harman Grubisa show was beautiful beautiful beautiful! The styling, the clothes – all just divine. The Autumn Winter ’16 collection, entitled DAKOTA, is the label’s fourth season. Dakota takes its name from a famous apartment block in New York’s Upper West Side that has been home to leading ladies including Lauren Bacall and Roberta Flack. Stars of the silver screen and iconic women lend their names to pieces in the collection named after Jean Harlow, Mary Angelou and Nina Simone. The show walked the fine line between classic and seen-before; it had real class. Of particular note were the fur shawls draped over shoulders – very 1940s glam- and fastened with narrow belts, the fine knitwear, the purple dresses and shawls providing a pop of colour amongst the milky shades, and a stunning furry-cuffed coat. The New Zealand-made label is designed by Madeleine Harman and Jessica Grubisa and is available at The Department Store in Takapuna.
