Mercedes-Benz Presents Knuefermann New Zealand Fashion Week 2018
27th August 2018
What a fantastic choice of designer to open fashion week with Mercedes-Benz as Knuefermann’s clothes are as sleek and elegant as the cars themselves and very European-Glam in feel and look.
Turet Knefermann’s AW19 collection, ‘The Travel Edit’ took inspiration from overseas travels and what she herself would like to throw into her luggage for ready to wear glamour and sexiness – a far cry from my jandals and floral shorts for 2008 in my luggage.
Colour-wise, the clothes also matched a fleet of Mercedes, with silver (the most popular car colour worldwide now, my Dad was just telling me on Saturday after hearing it on Radio NZ), black, grey and splashes of red. The only print was a grey toned snake.
“Sumptuous silks, effortless knits and gross-grain suiting unite The Travel Edit in hues of striking black and gold through to delicate snake prints” said Knuefermann.
“As a designer, I find my inspiration in my surroundings, particularly when I’m traveling. The artisanship one finds in different cultures opens your mind to new combinations and energy and inspires new shapes.”
I saw Turet in the bar before the show and when she saw I was wearing one of her designs in red satin from a few years back, she said I’d get a surprise tonight – and I did – I saw the archive design in black satin on a model on the catwalk looking stunning. Below – Turet and I both wearing her designs.
