Fashion Week is here again! Here are some of my highlights in photos of NZ Fashion Week 2015…
My Fashion Week Essentials are simpler than you’d think: 1. Water – my BRITA Fill n’ Serve, 2. Makeup – my fave MAC cosmetics, 3. Shoes – that you can stand in comfortably for hours, and last but not least, 4. Tickets – to the AW16 runway shows!
OPENING NIGHT
With Four Eyes blog at the opening party.
Hailwood, nomD, Ruby, Stolen Girlfriends Club and Kate Sylvester are among NZ designers in the NZ-started, worldwide-initiative, Childlaborfree.com, to put labels on garments with proven supply chains free of child labour.
TUESDAY 25th August
twenty-seven names show Still Life held outside with guests under umbrellas against a backdrop of the Auckland Viaduct and Skytower.
Below: My Instagram at twenty-seven names
Below: what I wore on Tuesday at fashion week
Next: off the to Choose Wool show. Twenty-seven names was one of the labels that showed woollen garments.
The cute Choose Wool goody bag has cookies and socks by French83 and Wynn Hamlyn, and soap from Triumph & Disaster.
Andrea Moore AW16 and her diffusion label, I AM, on the runway. ‘The Poem’ drew from Andrea’s time living in Japan, and ‘Walking Tall’ was a jungle-inspired collection from I AM. The show was presented with Braun.
This was a much-needed refreshing break – vita coco coconut water cocktails at the hopt bar.
Backstage makeup with MAC’s Kiekie Stanners at Kate Sylvester. I adore backstage – you get a one-on-one with the lead artist talking you through the face and inspiration and I listened to her describe it to the other artists which was awesome.
WEDNESDAY
Loving the fresh flower wall at #NZFW and no I’m not drinking champagne this early; it’s sparkling water from the BRITA stand- so good!
HARMAN GRUBISA
A beautiful beautiful collection! I loved it all. Below: The front row watching the show.
NEW GENERATION SHOW
The second New Generation Show of the week featured three emerging talents- Clavons Wear, Gally Nine, and Kharl-William Wirepa.
NZ WEDDINGS
This show is always a visual feast and has the cutest little bridesmaids and flower girl children walking, too! It showcased seven bridal and suit labels: Barkers, Crane Brothers, Hera Bridal, John Zimmermann, Natalie Chan, Robyn Cliffe and Working Style.
After NZ Weddings I had a pic with Youtube sensation Shannon Shaaanxo and Instagram legend Amanda Thomas of Herecomesthesunblog.

ITZME AND JULIAN DANGER
I totally enjoyed both of these shows. The first, ITZME, was a fun and youthful collection and this was followed by Julian Danger’s sleek and chic looks that were very polished and mature in design. Great work by both brands.
TASTE OF NZ FASHION WEEK
At ‘Taste of Fashion Week’ we got to sample delicious wares by the food and drink providers onsite and hear from producers about the food, wine, and beer matches. The duck pie and Kronenbourg 1664 was delicious and the Leftfield wine, and Laurent Perrier Champagne was amazing. I particularly enjoyed the backstage tour where they walked us through the models’ backstage area, Extra Blue Room, hair and makeup, St Tropez tanning, and the tents.
STOLEN GIRLFRIENDS CLUB
Extremely full house at the St James for Stolen Girlfriends 10 year party.
A fashion moment: a model stage-dived into the audience at St James theatre!
The finale: Models lined up on stage then a pink confetti cannon went off! Happy 10 years Stolen Girlfriends Club!
THURSDAY
MIROMODA
Thread has the lovely Madeleine de Young on location at Miromoda, the showcase of Maori design talent, and she will be bringing us a few words on her highlights.
SEAN KELLY
It was such a pleasure to get a sneak peak at some of the gorgeous gowns by the Kiwi who won Project Runway and is back at NZ Fashion Week 2015 as a VIP guest at all the shows and is holding a full show at 5pm Thursday. He had a few pieces in the Resene Designer Collection show at 6pm on Wednesday.
Danielle Hayes (NZ’s Next Top Model) walking in evening gown by Sean Kelly.
Below: A slight wardrobe malfunction that a bit of boob-tape could’ve prevented! The photographers pit seemed to love it though.

With Kelly Thompson and Nicole Ku.
HAILWOOD
Another beautiful show by Adrian Hailwood, with stunning gowns in sequins, inspired by Hong Kong.
RUBY
Such a fun show – inseason and available to purchase afterwards (although sadly most media had to rush off in cabs to catch Zambesi) and featuring a hilarious dance to WHo rules the world? GIRLS! by three actors wearing RUBY garments. Great to see fashion labels having a laugh. Below: Me, on the Cleo website cleo.co.nz snapped at the RUBY fashion week show.
ZAMBESI
The amazing Anika Moa playing the Zambesi after party.
GOODYBAGS
Readers always want to know about the fashion week goodybags…they are not a huge deal anymore but these are my highlights- love this tote bag by Jordan Holliday, toy Citroen from Hailwood, muse badge from Kate Sylvester, and useful stuff like a mobile charger, coffee, dry shampoo, socks and gum.
