With a sensible response to the COVID-19 crisis and the closure of cinemas, Roadshow Films is bringing Miss Fisher & The Crypt of Tears to our homes, releasing digitally on April 15th, available for purchase or rental from Youtube, Apple and Google Play as well as rental on both Lightbox and Sky.
After freeing a young girl in Jerusalem, Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis) begins to unravel a mystery concerning priceless emeralds, ancient curses and the truth behind a suspicious disappearance. Based on the popular TV series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries by Deb Cox & Fiona Eagger and the original Phryne Fisher novels by Kerry Greenwood, this full length movie utilises National Trust properties in Australia and Morocco starring the witty and ever-glamorous lady detective.
I am a huge fan of the TV series so I was very excited to see the movie but I was a bit disappointed in the film. The TV series were better in intrigue and also in her costumes, which are a huge part of it visually. I would recommend it to fans wanting a Phyrne fix, and it felt like a fans only film but I would welcome another run of the TV series over another film like this.
