Benefit Cha Cha and Majorette
These next cosmetics all have the rhythm about them; from the flavours of the cha cha to the Majorette marching bands twirling batons. Benefit Cha Cha Tint and corresponding lipbalm shade Cha Cha Balm and Majorette blush.
I am quite partial to a creme pot of blush; there’s something intimate and tactile about coating your fingertip in colour and applying and blending it in by hand. I think the first one I had was that Ladyblush MAC one everyone had years ago? It was probably way too plum for me, upon reflection! This pink-peach however is a really fresh and pretty shade.I have yellow (not pink) undertones so I quite like a bit of peach and it’s nice with the coral and orange lip colours so hot now.
It goes without saying (which I always say before going on to say it anyway!) that Benefit’s packaging is beyond compare. You click open this little compact and feel like you’re opening a macaron. The concave creme cake blusher awaits like an icing filling inside.
Hydrating Lip Balms are a coordinating sheer and moisturising lip colour to match the four Benetint shades of Benetint – rose, Lollitint – lilac, Chachatint – mango, and Posietint – poppy pink. The idea is you can customise them to either go on alone as a sheer wash of colour, or layer up over the tint colour to give a moisture lift to your lips with deeper colour.
Majorette blush retails for $53 and Hydrating Lip Balms for $34 each. You can buy Benefit at Smith & Caughey’s Queen Street and Newmarket stores in Auckland, at JR duty free at the airport, and online at www.smithandcaugheys.co.nz
Check out how intense the Chachatint comes out when it’s on your skin. Love!
Smashbox Santigold
This compact has the most incredible design – I love the multimedia collage artwork of artist Santigold in this colab.
The USA singer Santi White aka Santigold has created a limited edition range, ‘The Santigolden Age,’ in a play on her name, in stunning colourful designs that don’t just appear on the box, or just the lid, but on the product inside, too.
The eye palette is $59 with five wet-to-dry eyeshadows, and eye liners $39 with two colours in a double ended eyeliner pencil. This bright blue and yellow gold is incredible. There are also lipglosses $39, and a snake coil lipstick ring $95 and nailpolish strips $24.95.
Available at selected Life Pharmacies, beauty spas, and Smashbox concept store on Ponsonby Road. Smashboxcosmetics.co.nz
Essie and Maybelline Spring colours
Essie and Maybelline New York have some incredibly pretty colours out this Spring for lips and nails and my personal picks were these ones, in lilac and coral. I especially like the orange nailpolish Essie ‘cute as a button.’
SuperStay Better Skin foundation
This foundation is really great for the price. In fact, I have been recommending it to readers who was after a cheap yet good quality foundation. Better Skin foundation has a SF20 so is perfect for spring and gives a smooth, even finish. It’s point of difference is that it targets evening out skin tone, to remove patchy skin tone for a more uniform look. It’s long-lasting and hydrating so fine for those with older skin like me, and it retails for $33.99.
Buff & Tuff Color Tattoo Guest reviewed by Lauren Kittengloves for Thread.
“I really love the Buff & Tuff Color Tattoo eyeshadow ($13.99). It lived up to its promise and also stayed put, not gathering in any creases. I was able to get the desired coverage and intensity by applying with a damp brush. The eyeshadow and Maybelline New York Big Eyes eyeliner combination helped me achieve a smokey yet metallic look.”
La Mav Sunkissed Bronzer
Australian organic makeup and skincare brand La Mav has released this mineral bronzer in a loose pot with holes to shake out and apply using your kabuki brush.
I found a little goes a long way and so do shake off excess before you apply.
I really like this product and it will be a staple of my Spring makeup kit. I like that it contains Vitamin C and organic rosehup oil for anti-ageing.
It retails for $39.95 from selected pharmacies and FLAUNT Store at 35 Jervois Road Ponsonby Auckland. See www.healthandherbs.co.nz for more info.
