ON MY DESK: New in beauty for Summer 2022.
Pinch and a punch, it’s the first of the month. The first of December heralds the start of summer- so here are a few beauty-full new releases to come across my desk just in time for the long hot days to come.

My all-time fave Karen Murrell has an exciting new release – her very first range of lip Tints. I think this is just perfect for summertime, when you don’t want a heavy saturation of colour, for a light subtle wash of colour without looking too made-up Entitled the TROPICAL ISLAND GODDESS COLLECTION, this has the kiwi lipstick queen’s most-loved shades in her new hydrating, balmy texture. There are two lip scrubs to prepare a smooth lip surface, in Watermelon Lip Scrub and Mint Scrub $31.99. In colour shades they have lipsticks that evoke a tropical holiday, including Plum Martini (inspired by her Pink Starlet lipstick), Tropical Sunset (raspberry tones), Coconut Infusion (a subtle blush shade), and Island Illusion (similar to her best-selling Violet Mousse shade).

Also from Karen Murrell comes this world first: a lipstick utilising the qualities of wool. Kera Kisses is a unique partnership between Karen Murrell and Wool Source, creating a world-leading, limited-edition soft-red tinted lip balm uniquely enriched with NZ wool keratin to nourish and protect your lips all day. Wool keratin powder absorbs and neutralises pollutants, preventing them from damaging skin. The absorbent nature of the keratin powder in the pigment and its light sponge-like character locks in the moisture close to the skin, keeping lips hydrated. The wool used can be traced back to its origin from Westmere Farm in Ashburton. Kera Kisses debuted at Field Days 2022 and is available to purchase online now at karenmurrell.com for $31.99

Skin Proud is a cruelty-free, vegan skincare line based around inclusion of all skin types. Here in New Zealand it is available at Farmers priced around the $20-30 range – which makes it really affordable for teens upwards – as well as being great quality and having the ingredients you’d expect to be paying a lot more for. I also like that they show diversity in the campaigns and include all ethnicities, genders and skin types. With the warmer weather Skin Proud can help you keep your cool with Frozen Over Gel-To-Ice Hydrator $29.59, Refresher Hydrating Face Mist $21.99, and Everything Balm $17.99.

Runway Room FIRST BASE is skincare meets make-up, a multi purpose product that is jam packed full of hero ingredients such as a HUGE 2% Hyaluronic Acid, Kakadu Plum, Pomegranate and White Sapphire. It is an everyday skincare product that will hydrate and smooth the skin leaving you with a polished, pearly glow. It’s the ultimate Primer for a plumped, hydrated and glowy finish to your foundation but may also be worn on its own for natural, radiant skin.

One Organics has launched a body care line including Natural Body Butter Natural Deodorant, and Natural Lipbalm, created to bring beautiful bodycare that’s kind to you and the planet.
When I opened the box the first thing that struck me was the beautiful packaging and I actually said, “Oooh!”. The second thing was the divine smells of the fragrance once you open the lid. For those looking for a natural alternative to commercial deodorant, try One Organics New Zealand-made natural body range or give someone a set for Christmas.
Monique Gladding, the founder of @at_one_organics, says how it all come about.
“One was born out of a personal quest for natural products that really worked and were effective. With a life in elite sport and health, a love for all things natural and pure, I wanted to pull all these things together and bring something good to the world – something special.”
“It all came together at a time when we as a family were travelling a really difficult road with my daughter going through cancer treatment. There was a lot of heartfelt emotion about, a real sense of what mattered most, it felt really raw and true which got poured into One’s creation. My hope is that One really encompasses all of this, at every stage we’ve looked to be true to our values and produce something truly special – to look at, to feel, how it works, what we deliver to our customers and ultimately the impact on our bodies and planet. It’s an expression of something true and good. I hope it brings you joy using it, as much as it did me creating it.” Find them on Instagram @at_one_organics and online at www.at-one.nz
