ON MY DESK Spring beauty 2015

This latest ON MY DESK Spring Beauty column features the latest beauty, makeup and skincare products to cross my desk in November 2015…

OPI HELLO KITTY

Lovely delivery from Amanda Thomas of @herecomesthesunblog of my GIRLBOSS book she borrowed to read, and the kawaii new Hello Kitty OPI collection and Covergirl Full Lash Bloom mascara! I really love this pink shade and can’t wait to try the yellow. Hello Kitty x OPI comes in 12 shades for $19.99 at Farmers and selected pharmacies from December 2015. The same 12 shades will be in GelColor gel nail polish from selected nail salons also from December. Below: a detail of the flowers pictured above by Bloom Social, who deliver you flowers regularly. I wish you could smell this spring bouquet! Also I LOVE the name tag idea of writing in metallic pen on a camellia leaf and stapling it on. Would be great at weddings and parties.

ESSIE

The Essie Summer collection of six nail colours has the expected pale shades for sun-kissed, beachy skin, but also a pop of colour in this bright orange-red. I particularly like the peachy one (‘Peach Side Babe’) which I’m wearing in the photo here holding the Karen Murrell lipsticks. Plus who can have enough pale blue nailpolish, right?

ESSIE CHILLATO

So happy to get a bunch of peonies for $2.99! My new milky lemon nail polish is Essie in Chillato, which you see pictured above. It did take 3 coats to get a nice opaque cover. You can buy Essie at Farmers stores and pharmacies for RRP $22.99.

DESIGNER BRANDS PALETTES

Bargain Beauty Buy: The new Designer Brands Palettes out for Christmas are priced from just $10 each. The larger palette at the bottom is a Pro Contour Kit ($22.99) with powders in six shades. The top palette has ten (yes, ten!) eyeshadows for $16.99. My pick is the Gold Nude Mini Palette, which also comes in Silver, ($10) on the right, with six warm-toned cream to bronze colours for eyes. I don’t really love the sponge applicator, so I use my own brushes, but for $10 you can’t complain. Designer Brands is available at pharmacies throughout New Zealand.
